Rolled Oats 1
Teaspoon
Vanilla
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add alternately beaten eggs with milk and
dry ingredients, sifted together. Add oatmeal and vanilla and drop by
teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10
minutes.
Yield: 48
We always added a bag of chocolate chips or raisins or nuts or
some combination.
This is the recipe my grandmother always made. It's softer
than a lot of oatmeal cookies, and to me, no other recipe
ever measured up. This came from the Modern Priscilla Cookbook,
which was published in the 1890s. I wish I still had it.
