Merry Cookies - Basic Dough

Ingredients: 1 1/4
cups
butter or margarine,
softened
3/4
cup
sugar 1
teaspoon
vanilla 2
Eggs,
separated
3
cups
all-purpose flour 1
teaspoon
baking powder 1/2
teaspoon
salt
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, vanilla and egg yolks thoroughly (reserve egg whites for Thumbprint cookies).
Mix in remaining ingredients.
Shape into ball; divide into 4 parts. Use one part of each variation below.
Wrap remaining parts until read to use.
Dough can be refrigerated.
