Butter, scant 1/2
c
Brown sugar 1/2
c
White sugar 2
Egg yolks, beaten slightly 1
t
Vanilla 2
c
Flour 1/2
ts
Salt 1
t
Baking powder 1/4
ts
Soda 1

Chocolate bits
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks that have been slightly
beaten with 1 T water, and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and mix
together. Cut in with knife or spatula as you would for pastry. Makes
stiff dough. Put on greased cookie sheet, 14x10 inches and sprinkle
chocolate bits on top. Make mixture of 2 egg whites, beaten stiff.
Add 1 c brown sugar gradually, beat well. Spread on top of chocolate
bits. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and cut.
