Holiday Sandwich Cookies

Ingredients: 2
cups
flour 1/2
pound
butter 1/2
cup
sugar 4
ounces
sliced almonds (I grind in my "hand" nut g 1/2
teaspoon
vanilla
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. Be certain that butter is at room
temperature.
Roll out dough and cut in circles or in hearts.
Bake at 350 degrees. Check at 8 or 10 minutes for doneness. Bake until
just slightly brown around the edges. Cool. Put 2 cookies together with
a tart red jelly such as plum. Dip the double cookie in granulated sugar,
rolling the cookie, coating only the edges.
NOTE: Dough may be divided into 2 portions, tinting one half red and the
other half green. Place one red and one green cookie together with jelly
between. After rolling the edges in sugar, you'll have an attractive
holiday cookie.
