Cranberry Apple Pie

ounces
Fresh cranberries 6

Apples 3/4
cup
Sugar 2
tablespoons
Cornstarch 1
teaspoon
Pumpkin pie spice 1/2
cup
Orange juice
Pastry for two crust pie
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Sort and wash cranberries. Put cranberries, sugar, orange juice, pie spice and cornstarch in a sauce pan. Stir to dissolve cornstarch. bring to a boil and cook over low heat until thickened and the cranberries have popped. Meanwhile, pare and slice apples. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples and the cranberry mixture untilthe apples are well coated. Place pie crust in a 9 inch deep dish pie plate, fill with apple mixture and cover with other crust. Seal and flute as desired. Vent top and sprinkle with about a teaspoon of sugar. Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

I prefer Granny Smith apples but this is good with any kind. This pie is quite tart and you may want to increase the sugar to one cup if you don't appreciate tart desserts and the full flavor of cranberries.
