Directions:
Cream together 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, and 4 eggs well beaten.
Then add 4 tablespoonfuls of sour milk, 1 teaspoonful of soda, 1
teaspoonful each of ground cinnamon and cloves. Add 2 cups of flour.
Beat this well together. Then add 1 cup of good apple butter. To be
baked as a layer cake. (Smithville, Ohio.)
